Jet drivers used to be installed with Windows until the recent Windows editions. You can download ACE drivers for free ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255 ) Here is an example of usage : How to read/write dBase III files using C#/.NET ODBC or OLE?

I am trying to import a dBase '.dbf' file into MS Access 2010. After going to External Data/More/dBase files a file open dialog presented itself. When I selected the file from the File Open Dialog box and selected 'Import the source data into a new table in the current database.' then MS Access returned a message stating

'The Microsoft Access database engine could not find the object 'TM_World_Borders'. Make sure the object exists and that you speel its name and the path name correctly.'

Well the object obviously exists as it was right there in the File Open Dialog box. In addition, I was able to open it in Notepad although I was not able to do anything with the data. And since I selected it from the File Open Dialog the path and the object name were spelled correctly. The message suggested what to do if the object is not a local object which is irrelevant because it is a local object.
So why can I not import this file. I initially tried to import it in Excel but that did not work because it was in the File Block Settings that were not possible to change. This was a last hope to get this data.
